4 Day Jumpstart Results

It's been a busy day. Russ and I decided to have a day to ourselves, so we packed up the ol' diaper bag and sent the little one off to Grandma and Grandpa's house for the day. We went out to lunch (Mexican.. OMG so good compared to the crap I've been eating), went to a few stores and hung out with his parents the rest of the day.

So here are my results:

Weight: 171 (-3lbs)
Waist: 31.5" (-1")
Hips: 44" (no change)

I'd say those are pretty good results for doing it only 4 days. I probably would only recommend this to people who are very strong willed, don't mind eating bland/boring foods, and don't mind feeling hungry all the time. Which in my circle of people is ZERO.

I'm going to continue to portion control (every meal I ate today was HALF of what they gave me), drinking lots of water (I did give in and had a Diet Pepsi) and eat my MUFA's with every meal. Hopefully, I'll be able to lose more weight and continue to my goal. :)

Who Can Resist a Sleeping Babe?

This child will wake up if I go and peek on her at night, but she slept through me snapping pictures with the flash. She's a stinker. :P

Day 4: LAST DAY

Thank goodness!

I'm so over this bland diet. I want some flavor in my life! :) I will update tomorrow with my measurements and weight loss. Hopefully there is a slight change. I was curious to see how many calories I was taking in with this diet, because the book doesn't tell you. I did today's meals, and I even cheated with a Chik Fil A chicken wrap and my total calories were 1130! Crap thats not a lot of calorie intake. No wonder they say you can lose up to 7lbs in 4 days. They're pretty much starving you! Yeah, I don't think I'll be doing this 4 day thing again. Unless I need to get into a dress for something special, its not worth it. I felt hungry most of the time, especially at night when all my meals were done and all I could do is drink water. Going to bed with my tummy growling is not a good feeling.

In other news, we headed to the mall today to get Olivia out of the house. I bought a new pair of comfy pants for around the house from Old Navy. I have a pair I wore around while I was pregnant and they were too big. These are super cute and I would even wear them to the store if we were just running out. They are very comfortable too. :)
I picked up a pair of cute gray shorts and a t-shirt for Olivia in size 2T for summer. I'm crossing my fingers she'll stay in size 18 months until the Spring. Her pants are beginning to look a bit short on her. I'm not sure how tall she is. Her 1 year she was 31". We have her 15 month appointment on 3/8. I love seeing how much she grows every time we take her to the doctor. I don't however, like seeing her get poked with needles. :(

Day 3

I seriously could not do this diet for a whole month. Thank goodness it's only 4 days.
The food is so bland and boring. You can't cook with anything except cooking spray. You can however use Mrs Dash seasonings on things, which I have been doing. I've always liked my foods very flavorful, and these foods are just not yummy tasting. After this is over, I'm going to really try and follow the diet, but I'll probably do my own foods and incorporate the MUFA's in every meal I have. For lunch, I had to sit and watch Russ and Olivia eat pizza and breadsticks. Boo!

Breakfast:
Cream of Wheat (made with FF milk)
sunflower seeds
applesauce

Lunch:
Vegan Gardenburger
string cheese
raw carrots

Dinner:
chicken breast
green beans
brown rice

Snack:
Stawberry/Pineapple smoothie w/ flaxseed oil (this is not as good as it sounds, its not sweet at all because you use unsweetened strawberries)
string cheese

Drank about 8 cups of water total.

No headache today. I think my body is getting used to drinking only water. But, I still miss my Diet Pepsi. :)

Day 2

Well, today was not so great. First of all, I cannot stomach that Sassy water, so I just drank plain old water the whole day. Second, we went out to lunch to get out of the house for a bit. Ended up at Chik-Fil A, I got a Diet Lemonade as my drink.

Breakfast:
Cream of Wheat mixed with FF milk
4oz canned pineapple
sunflower seeds
water

Lunch:
Chargrilled chicken wrap
lemonade
I snuck one of Olivia's waffle fries :P

Dinner:
4oz grilled chicken breast
1cup sauteed cremin mushrooms
side salad
water

Snack:
half banana/peanut butter sandwich
1 piece of 86% cocoa dark chocolate
water

I'm pretty sure my body is going through caffeine withdrawal because I've had a headache for half the day. It got so bad that we had to leave Target, come home so I could lay down. I still have it. I even tried taking one of my 800mg Motrin. :(

Trying to Breathe....

This is one of my serious posts. I very rarely talk about how I feel about being a mother. I just need to get this off my chest and breathe... or try to at least.
I look back on pictures over the last year of my precious little girl's life.. they're filled with happy moments, celebrating milestones, and lots of kisses. This is what my sweet, happy, little peanut has become the past 2.5 months. It started just after her 1st birthday. She'll follow me everywhere I go, crying, whining, pulling at my leg. In fact, I was in the bathroom this morning and she HAD to sit on my lap, so imagine that if you will. If she falls down on her bum, its like the end of the world. She'll scream. We cannot go out much anymore, because she'll throw fits about being in a highchair, and she'll end up throwing food on the ground. Lately, its been about her teeth. I know they're bothering her when she's constantly biting her finger.. knawing at it like it was a carrot.
I used to love being at home with her. Going out, having play dates, shopping, etc. I actually miss WORK! Its so hard to be home with her anymore. Its nothing but a struggle to make it through the days. When Russ is working, I'm pretty much on my own. He works 12 hour shifts and switches days and nights. He's on nights (5pm-5am) this week. He sleeps until about noon the next morning. I count the hours before he wakes up and can watch Olivia. I'm losing my patience with her constantly, and I feel horrible. I feel like I'm the worse mother ever. Who gets upset with their baby?
I'm just really struggling with being at home. I honestly don't know how SAHM's do it day in and day out. I don't even work that much. I'm only gone for 7 days a month.. for 5 hours. So, technically, I'm a almost full time SAHM.
Anyways, I'm just stuck. I feel so guilty about feeling this way about my baby girl. I miss her so much... the way she was. She would light up my day...everyday. I enjoyed every moment of the day. Now, not so much. She screams at me first thing in the morning when I put her down to change her diaper. If I put her down to get her sippy of milk, she'll scream even more at me. It just goes on and on like that the whole day. Crying, whining, screaming. I'd say, she's happy maybe 25% of the day.. the rest being crabby and miserable.
The last week or so, she's decided she doesn't want to take a 2nd nap. So, she's even MORE crabby/tired at the end of the night. (The only plus side to this is she's sleeping more soundly at night now because she's just pooped out)

I've read in books that this can happen around this age. Its so hard. I keep thinking I'm never going to see my happy girl again. She's been taken over by this miserable little thing that cries all the time. (She cries more now, than she did as a newborn)

:(

Day 1 of 4: Jumpstart Detox

My stats:

*I only measured my hips and waist because I didn't have time to do anything else because Olivia was whining at me*

Hips: 44"
Waist: 32.5"
Weight: 174lbs (I was 172 yesterday, but I ate Buffalo Chicken Dip last night, oops. )

Breakfast:
unsweetened corn flakes
fat free milk
unsweetened applesauce (I added cinnamon)
sunflower seeds
"Sassy" water (I'm renaming it "Nasty" water)

Lunch:
sliced turkey breast
grape tomatoes
string cheese
"Nasty" water

Snack:
Strawberry smoothie (frozen strawberries, FF milk and Tbsp Flaxseed oil)

Dinner:
grilled tilapia
green beans
brown rice
"Nasty" water

This water they have you drinking is so beyond nasty. At least for me. Its 2 liters of water, a whole cucumber, a lemon, grated ginger, and a few mint leaves. You let it "marinate" overnight. I have a really hard time drinking it, and its the only thing I'm allowed to drink for the next 4 days. Plus, you have to drink ALL 2 liters throughout the day. I will be strong and do it. But, only for 4 days. :)

The meals are very filling. I'm having a hard time eating all the food. Lunch called for a PINT of grape tomatoes. That's a lotta tomatoes. I couldn't finish them.

Goodbye My Friend

...well at least for the next 4 days. I have to leave my good ol' friend Diet Pepsi. I love it. It loves me. :)

Tomorrow, I'm starting my Flat Belly Jumpstart diet. If you haven't heard about it, you can read about it here.

I took Olivia to the store with me, and we bought everything on the shopping list. *Those things are so handy! Nothing like having to scan through a diet plan and write down everything you have to buy*
I never thought I'd be buying flaxseed oil, but I did. I had to search for it though. Man, that stuff is expensive. Like... $13.00 expensive for a little bottle. Ugh. Anyways, I'm excited to start this diet and I'm hoping it works as well as they say.

I'm going to be measuring myself tomorrow morning, as well as weighing in. I'll post an update tomorrow with the stats. :)

Go Away Old Man Winter

Its been snowing off and on for 2 weeks now. I'm so tired of seeing the white stuff. Blah.

Our tax return came to us on 2/12 and we did quite a bit of big purchasing since then. We got our camera, which is a Nikon D5000. Russ found a deal at Best Buy for the camera, extra lens, and case for cheaper than what we would have got it for at Costco. Score! I LOVE this camera. Even though I don't have much knowledge about this camera, I've been able to take some awesome pictures.

You'll see:
My Snow Bunny

We also got a new computer. We ended up getting a new MacBook. Its the cheapest of the Apple computers and it works good for us for what we need it for. LOVE it too. Although, the camera is more exciting to play with. :)

Olivia also got a new toy. I bought her the Laugh and Learn lawn mower. So cute.

Tomorrow is our anniversary. 4 years ago today we were in Las Vegas running around trying to get our marriage license to the chapel in time for the 2pm deadline. Our wedding was the next day. :) We're heading to The Melting Pot for dinner tomorrow. Russ's mother is coming to watch her for the evening. I'm really excited about this place. I love chocolate and bananas. :)

Snow Fun

We haven't offically taken Olivia out in the snow. It would be up to her chest if we did. Russ came home with a toddler sled today from Target. So, we bundled the wee one up and went outside to give it a spin.

I think she liked it.

Here are a few pictures of the winter wonderland that is my road. Ugh. Stop. Snowing. Please.

After being outside for 15 minutes, and the shiner she got when she headbutted our bed.

Really Mother Nature???? REALLY?

It's snowing again. No, wait, its freezing rain. Oh, no, wait, its snowing again. Make up your mind please. I'm trying very hard to be patient in waiting for April to come. Sometimes, even in March we get 1 or 2 nice sunny days that hit over 50. Just wait, I'll be bitching about the 90 degree weather in August. :)

In other, non weather related news, Olivia is becoming a little girl in front of my eyes. Its kind of like when all of the sudden she no longer looked like a newborn and more like a baby. Newborns are kind of weird looking in the beginning. At least OK did. She had crusty hands and feet from being over-cooked. Crusty eyes and her movements were more like a robot than a human. I wake up every morning to her talking to herself, or the stuffed animal who happens to be in bed with her at the time. The other morning, I went in and she no longer looked like a baby to me. She was my little 14 month old girl standing there waiting for her mum to pick her up and give her a kiss good morning. It makes me sad, but at the same time, I love watching her grow and learn new things.

New things learned this week:
  • She picked up a fry at dinner last night with my in laws and she actually DIPPED it in ketchup.. when did she learn this?? I don't know but its was fascinating to watch. She had the coordination to do it.
  • I asked her where her baby was the other night. She went over to her toy box, picked her baby doll up, walked over to me and handed me baby. Coolest thing ever!
  • She'll take my car keys, walk up to the front door and put the keys near the door knob.
  • Today, she got down from the couch legs first. I've been trying to teach her that one for awhile. Going face first isn't much fun.
  • She can climb up onto out bed. Its easy for her because we have a ledge and its pretty low, but still... she climbed!
  • I heard her say "ug" after I asked her to give her bear a "hug"
She amazes me everyday. She also tests my sanity on a daily basis. She's very clingy to us. If she's tired/cranky, every time she falls on her bum, she screams like she broke her leg. So, our daily life consists of Olivia being crabby 75% of the day. The other 25% is Olivia being happy and cute. Like I said... testing of my sanity.

I'm looking forward to getting our new camera. If there is anything learned in having a child, a point and click camera just doesn't cut it when they become mobile. I cant tell you the last time I got a good shot of her. She moves too much anymore. She doesn't want to 'smile for the camera' anymore. Can't wait to get it and see if I can finally get some good shots of my beauty. This is one of my favorites from the past year. It was her 9 month birthday.

Snow-a-paloosa

I finally got the camera back and uploaded all the pictures from the past couple days. I took about 40 pictures, so here are just a few.

Buried car. Yikes. I'd hate to have to shovel that out.

What is this, white fluffy hell?

We got snow. A lot of it.

I'm from Pittsburgh, well, about 15 minutes north. It started snowing Friday around 1pm. It never stopped until about 12pm Saturday.

I can't see my car. Snow is up to the bumper, tires, half my doors are snowed in.

The news is saying that my area got about 20" of snow over the past 24 hours. This storm isn't even in the top 3 storms ever. We got a blizzard in 1993 when I was 9 years old. School was out for nearly a week. It was pure bliss!

20" of snow is a bummer when you're an adult. I am dreading digging my car out. Russ had to park across the highway in the Target parking lot because he was working all night and had to drive home in this crap. Our road wasn't plowed, so parking lot it is!
Not only that, but we have to actually dig a space to get OUT of our lot.

We took Olivia out in the snow. Just out on our deck because I think if we'd taken her out and plopped her down in 20", she'd freak out.

I got some awesome pictures, but Russ didn't upload the right ones off the camera, and he took the camera to work. Dork. I'll have to post those later on tomorrow.

Here is what Olivia thinks of this snow.....
Those are Russ's favorite OK jammies

Show Me the Money!

We filed our taxes last week and we have to wait another week until we get our refund deposited in the bank. I'm guessing they only deposit on Fridays. Our scheduled day is Feb 12th. I'm waiting like a kid waiting to go to Disney World.

Here is the breakdown on what we're using our refund for:

  1. Camera - Nikon D3000 DSLR I'm so excited about this one. Costco has a bundle package with this camera that includes an extra 22mm lens, case, memory card, and learning books. I cannot wait to be able to take awesome pictures outside when the spring comes.
  2. Computer - MacBook Not sure this is the exact Apple we're going to buy, but it's going to be Apple and another laptop. We've had our current Apple for a couple years and its an old model, so it's time to upgrade.
  3. Clothes - for Olivia. Probably going to head to the Carter's store and stock up on 24 month clothing for spring/summer
  4. Anniversary - Our 4th wedding anniversary is coming up on the 18th this month. I've ALWAYS wanted to go to The Melting Pot, but we've never had the time/money/energy to go. I told R that I definitely wanted to go this year for our anniversary.
  5. Savings - Yep, good old savings for that glorious day we decide to buy our own digs.

So, what are you using your refund moo-la on?

Wordless Wednesday

Straight out of the oven.

Supid Xanga

Well, looks like I cannot move my posts from the last 2 years over here. I'd have to copy and paste them all, and I really don't have time to do it all. If it were as easy as that, I would, but I'd have to go and change the date on all the posts to match when it was originally posted. No thanks. :)

Instead, I'm going un-protect my old blog, so if anyone wants to read up on whats been going on the past 2 years of my life. This includes: TTC, 9+ months of pregnancy, Olivia's 1st year, and random other shananigans.

Here is the address to read my old posts.

Switching... again.

I'm relocating my blog back over to Blogger. Unfortunately, I cannot take my posts I've written over the past 2 years with me. If anyone knows how to download archived post off Xanga, please let me know.

Edit: Well, I upgraded to Premium account, so I can archive the last 2 years. Hopefully, I'll be able to upload them on this site.
